Aussie SMC Shower base Installation Guides.

1. Installation of Water-resistant plasterboard

SMC shower base is of 9mm tile flange, install the water-resistant on the top of tile flange after pacing the base and then seal the joint with silicone sealant.

2. Villaboard installation

A minimum of 3mm shower base framework is needed when using villaboard and should be installed directly on top of the tile flange and seal the joints with silicone sealant.

  1. A 200mm x 200mm hole is to be cut out from the floor and in the case of concrete it should be 300mm x 300mm, and the floorboards must cover the entire underside of the base.
  2. Check the level on every side prior to installing the base.  This will help the base to drain effectively as it has inbuilt fall to the waste outlet. SMC shower is to be installed with the silicone over the base area prior to ensuring that the substrate is completely levelled.

Note: Use a cement-based tile adhesive spread on the floor with a 12mm notched trowel to ensure the base is fully supported.

  1. Before lining shower walls, It is essential to test the water run-off to the waste outlet. If not performed, will breach the guarantee.
  2. Cover and protect the base till it comes into service.
  3. Silicone is required at the bottom edge of the shower wall to the base prior to the filling of the shower screen and also around the tap spindles and shower rose outlet.

3. Cleaning (Avoid abrasive cleaner)

To preserve the high lustre, it should be cleaned with a soft cloth material along with soapy water to avoid surface build-up issues. In case of accidental abrasion, silicon-based polishing must be done

Note: Shampoos and hair dyes may cause staining to this Shower Base and makes it difficult to remove. Instead should be done over surfaces containing vitrified finish such as basins. Staining of this base resulting from the use of coloring products will NOT BE COVERED by the PRODUCT.
