Aussie Polymarble Shower Base Installation Instructions

A. Pre-Installation steps

To achieve a leak-free junction with the wall cladding material it is important to check the edge of the base into the wall by the width of the tiling flange. 

B. Installation with Timber Floor

  1. Floorboards should cover the downside of the base. The hole should not be greater than 200 x 200mm. The floor structure should be sound for this process.
  2. A 10mm min. A thick mortar bed of 4:1 Washed Sand needs to be spread over the Cement area where the base is to be installed and then trowel the area. A cement-based adhesive needs to be spread on the floor using a 12mm notched trowel.   (Silicone or liquid nails needs to be avoided).
  3. To drain the base properly lay the shower base on the bed and use a spirit level to ensure the base is level from both sides along with the front and rear.
  4. Now, it is necessary to check water drains and waste outlets before lining the shower walls, if not followed it will be considered a breach of warranty. 

C. Installation with Concrete Slab

  1.  Maximum accommodation for the waste in the boxed opening must not exceed 300mm in width beneath the shower base.
  2. Layout 10mm min. thick mortar bed of 4:1 Washed Sand: Base areas need to be cemented and then trowel off the level.  Ensuring the base area is supported, layout a cement-based adhesive on the floor using a 12mm notched trowel.(Silicone and/or liquid nail type adhesive must be avoided).
  3. Ensuring that the base is level both side to side and front to rear using spirit level layout of the shower base on the bed.  This step will allow the base to drain properly as it has an inbuilt fall to the waste outlet.
  4. Now, it is important to check that water drains to the waste outlet before lining the shower walls, unless will be a breach of warranty. 
  5. With a 4:1 Washed Sand backfill the opening in the slab:  Cement the mix, ensuring that the mortar is packed tightly around the waste outlet, back of the boxed section, and underside of the base for increased support. Where regular plastic pipes and fittings are needed, that should be ensured first before backfilling.

D. Smartwaste

When these products are used for installation as a waste collector purpose then keep the lid on the fitting area to provide support to the base.

E. Cleaning (Avoid abrasive cleaner)

To preserve the high luster, it should be cleaned with a soft cloth material along with soapy water to avoid surface build-up issues. In case of accidental abrasion, silicon-based polishing must be done.

F. Warranty

Bathroom Products Australia’s shower bases are composed of solid synthetic materials for the warranty terms and conditions.

Warning:  Guarantee will be void if: 

  • Installation procedures are not followed.
  • The base temperature should be subjected to water above 55 degrees Celsius.

G. Storage

Distortion of shower bases is possible If not stored correctly. If the installation is not done immediately, the base must be stored flat, top side up and not leaning on the waste outlet.
